What kinds of documents do you archive?
Categories are how we organise content on the Ishtar Collective. Some categories represent Books while other categories exist simply to group related content together.
Lore Entries contain two kinds of document: the first are those associated with items following the start of the Red War, and the second are those associated with Books following the mass breakout at the Prison of Elders.
Grimoire Cards are documents that were uncovered by Guardians starting during the arrival of the Hive on Earth and up to the Age of Triumph.
Transcripts record Guardian activity throughout the system and have been hand-compiled by Ishtar Collective personnel.
Interactions record individual conversations between people of interest, as well as what Items are offered in exchange for service.
Episodes record discussions between researchers and are presented in the hope of furthering our understanding of current events.
Items are documents related to the numerous weapons, armor, and miscellaneous objects that Guardians make use of.
Records are used to keep track of any documents that don't fall into the previous types.
What do the icons on documents represent?
Level 1 is used when a Card or an Item is loosely related to a category. Items and Cards that are automatically assigned to a Category based on keyword matches are given this confidence level to start with.
Level 2 is used when a Card or Item is somewhat related to a Category. This could be when a subject isn't mentioned directly but there are hints that a relation exists, or when a subject is mentioned directly but only in passing.
Level 3 is used when a Card or Item definitely belongs to a Category. This confidence level usually means that the Card or Item both discusses that subject by name and is about that subject.
The recent icon is shown whenever a Card or Item has been added to our archives within the last 2 weeks.
What do the icons on Categories represent?
Featured Categories are ones that have well written summaries and cover a subject that we think will be of interest to most readers. They have a chance to appear at the top of the home page.
Sometimes we re-order the Grimoire Cards within a Category so that they follow a chronological or sequential order. The Books of Sorrow and Shin Malphur are examples of this.
This icon is used when a Category is directly related to an event on the Timeline.
Some Categories are automatically generated based on data in the Bungie API, such as collections of armor.
How do you handle spoilers?
Most of the content that we archive comes from Bungie's API.
Whenever new documents are added to the site we set a 'spoiler date' for that document.
For most content the spoiler date defaults to the start of the release (aka season) + 14 weeks.
We will update the spoiler date on content as the season progresses and we get a better understanding of what content is available at what time.
When a document has a spoiler date in the future (i.e. a seasonal spoiler) it is still searchable and viewable, but the text will be blurred out by default and a banner will explain that this content may not yet be available in the game.
When a document has a spoiler date that falls in the past week (i.e. a weekly spoiler) the text will be blurred out by default and a banner will explain that this content has only recently appeared in the game.
