It will always finish what it started.
"Banshee, my friend!" Saint-14 exclaimed with open arms. The gunsmith put down the weapon he was holding and turned to Saint. A strange look passed over his face before he nodded in recognition.
"Saint," he said. "When did you get back?"
"Ah," Saint replied. "Today. Was short trip from Nessus."
"No, I mean…" Banshee said, then shook his head. "That's right. Nessus. Vanguard sending you there now?"
"Yes," Saint said. "Come, come. Let us speak."
The Titan beckoned the other Exo from behind his workstation, and together they walked towards the overlook, the City bright and shining beneath them. Saint leaned over the railing, deep in thought.
"We were looking for an anomaly. It is waking up Nessus and making it change. Ikora is still investigating. Something is going on."
Saint tapped his fist on the overlook railing.
"And more! Vex behaving strangely. Radiolaria moving down through the planet. Is very bad. Ikora thinks it must be because of the anomaly."
"You worried about the Vex?" Banshee asked.
"Yes," Saint said, leaning forward, his voice dropping, "And it is not just the Vex. Radiolaria is in our heads, too, my Exo brother. Clarity, the Darkness, the Deep Stone Crypt. All of it is still part of us. If the Vex are acting strangely, who is to say what will happen?"
"Well," Banshee said. "It's not like I'm going to Nessus."
"No, I do not recommend it," Saint said with a small laugh. "It is no good for tourism! Even if Failsafe is very welcoming."
"Failsafe?"
"Ah, yes. Golden Age AI. Very chatty. I like her."
"I remember now. Yeah. Cayde told me about her. I…"
Banshee looked down, thinking.
"Cayde's back, isn't he? Just like you."
Saint shook his head.
"No. Not like me."
"Oh…"
Banshee trailed off, eyes on the horizon. The Traveler was no longer there. He looked up to the sky, confused by the whorls of color he saw. Saint noticed his look of confusion, then followed Banshee's gaze.
The Titan rested a comforting hand on Banshee's shoulder.
"It's all right, Banshee," Saint said gently. "Take your time. We do not need to talk. It is pleasant to be here, looking out on the City with you. I think I will do it more often."
Banshee shook his head and smiled.
"Be careful out there, Saint," he said. "We need you."
